“The investigative judge issued a decision banning travel for all the defendants involved in the prosecution in the case of what is known as the secret service,” Fatima Boukataya, spokeswoman for the Ariana state court, told AFP.
She added, “In the case, 34 people are accused, including Rashid Ghannouchi.”
The defendants are being sued on charges of covering up and obtaining files and evidence incriminating people in the 2013 assassination of leftist opponents Chokri Belaid and Mohamed Brahmi.
The judicial authorities opened an investigation into this case last January, and the defense team, consisting of lawyers for the late politicians, presented at a press conference in 2018 what it said was evidence of a cover-up in the two assassinations.
In 2013, the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior confirmed that leaders of terrorist organizations carried out the assassinations that plunged the country into a political crisis, after which Ennahda was expelled from power.
