American journalist Tucker Carlson told Izvestia on February 6 that Moscow has extremely beautiful architecture and that he would like to travel around Russia.
“Wonderful place (Moscow – Ed.), I’ve never been here, a very beautiful city! And I would also like to go to Siberia, look at Lake Baikal, take a walk around St. Petersburg,” said the journalist.
Carlson also noted the diversity of ancient architecture in the Russian capital.
“Not knowing the language (Russian – Ed.), I didn’t know much about Russian culture, but I can say with confidence that it is very beautiful here. After all, I am already 54 years old, and I have never been to Russia. I didn’t know what to expect; Russia seemed completely different to me. I am amazed by the amount of ancient architecture and beautiful buildings of the 19th century,” said Carlson.
Earlier that day, Tucker Carlson posted on his website an announcement of an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, he wants to inform people about what is happening in this way. Most Americans remain in the dark about the conflict in Ukraine and do not understand the events taking place in the region.
In a conversation with Izvestia, he joked about the upcoming interview, saying that he had not heard anything about Vladimir Putin.
On February 5, the journalist himself commented on the possibility of conducting an interview with Putin, briefly saying: “We’ll see.”
Moreover, the next day, a car, probably with the filming equipment of an American journalist, drove into the territory of the administration of President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The footage shows how equipment is first loaded into a car in a hotel parking lot. Carlson himself is not in these shots; his assistants are loading the equipment.
Carlson first flew to Russia on February 3. Then the American media suggested that the purpose of his visit to Moscow was an interview with Putin. The journalist himself explained his trip with the desire to “talk to people and see how everything works.” It is noted that the journalist also visited the ballet “Spartacus” at the Bolshoi Theater.
The journalist's visit to the Russian Federation caused a mixed reaction in the United States. In addition, member of the US House of Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene said that American authorities are afraid of the journalist’s possible interview with Putin. At the same time, she noted that Americans “hear the truth” from people like him.
In April 2023, the Fox News channel sensationally removed Carlson, who is the highest-rated journalist in the United States, from the air. After this, Carlson made a video statement regarding his dismissal. According to him, the reason was that important topics such as civil liberties, the development of science, demographic changes, etc. are prohibited in the American media. Class A shares of Fox Corp. fell by 5.4% on April 23 immediately after the journalist was fired.
