In one of the few weekend breaks allowed by the world championship calendar to Formula 1 drivers, Yuki Tsunoda However, he didn't want to stay away from the track and the races. The Japanese, fresh from the extraordinary seventh place achieved in Melbourne, stopped – on the way to Suzuka where the Japanese GP will be held next weekend – in the capital Tokyo.
In fact, the local idol did not want to miss the event first historic E-Prix on Japanese soil. For him this was also the opportunity to embrace an old teammate again: Tsunoda in fact met on the starting grid, shortly before the start, with Nyck De Vries.
Unlucky visit
The Dutchman, representing the Mahindra Racing team, shared the garage with the #22 of Racing Bulls at the start of last Formula 1 season, before being dropped to make room for Daniel Ricciardo. However, the meeting with Yuki, immortalized by the Indian team's social channels, did not bring De Vries luck. The 2021 world champion of the electric series has indeed closed the race with a sad retirement. After five races the pilot orange he is still stuck with zero points in the standings. The next two rounds of the Formula E World Championship will take place in Italy in Misano.
