The US president, Donald Trumpsaid Wednesday that “everyone loves” their proposal that the North American country takes control of the Gaza Stripdespite the wide rejection shown by both the Palestinians and by leaders of the near medium and other governments.
“Everyone loves it,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office during the swearing of the new Attorney General, Pam Bondi, when asked about the reaction to his plan, exposed on Tuesday during a meeting with the first Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. He then said that it was not “the right time” for more questions while supervising the oath of the new Attorney General of the United States, Pam Bondi, according to AFP.
In his encounter with Netanyahu, the American president said that Egypt and Jordan will be forced to host refugees, and that the Strip would become “the Riviera de Oriente Near.”
Rejection in the Middle East and the UN
The proposal has been found, however, with the rejection of countries of the Middle East, the UN and the Palestinians. Hamas, who governs Palestinian territory since 2007, rejected the proposal and a spokesman for the movement, Abdel Latif al Qanu, described it as “racist (…) aligned with the extreme Israeli right.”
The Israeli prime minister, on the other hand, saw the plan with good eyes: «Our goal is to ensure that Gaza is never a threat to Israel. President Trump is taking him to another level. It has a different vision for that part of the earth that has been the focus of so much terrorism, of so many attacks against us ».
