Donald Trump is already planning to run for president in 2024, he hinted yesterday, four days before the midterm elections, betting on a major defeat for Democrats who have thrown all their might into the battle to save the threatened seats, including in their strongholds like New York.
“I’m very, very, very likely to run,” the former president told a crowd of supporters gathered in Iowa. “Get ready.” He added, “We will restore the Congress, we will restore the Senate,” stressing that “in 2024, we will restore our wonderful White House.”
The billionaire, who has never conceded defeat in the 2020 elections and who has been hinting for months at the idea of running for a new term, continues to tighten his grip on the Republican Party.
He supported a large number of candidates for the “mid-term elections”, and doubled the rallies for this goal. In this sense, he may be credited if they win and manage to deprive Democratic President Joe Biden of his majority in Congress.
Opinion polls predict a big victory for the Republicans in the completely renovated House, and they are heading for a narrow majority in the Senate, where a third of the seats are being contested.
