A new survey carried out by the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal (WSL) and released this Tuesday (2) points out that former US president Donald Trump (2017-2021) is ahead of the current president, Joe Biden, in six of the seven most disputed states in the presidential elections, where there is usually a dispute between Republicans and Democrats.
The states, known as swing states – Because they generally alternate between Republicans and Democrats in each election, they could once again be decisive for the presidential contest that will take place in November this year, where, it seems, Biden and Trump are likely to repeat the confrontation that occurred in 2020.
Carried out between March 17th and 24th, the survey had the contribution of 4,200 voters – 600 voters residing in each of the seven states.
Trump appears leading the dispute in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada and Pennsylvania. In Wisconsin, Biden and Trump appear tied, both with 46% of voting intentions.
Dissatisfaction with the economy and doubts about Biden's leadership abilities are among the factors that may be driving Trump's advantage in these states, points out the WSL.
The newspaper's survey also showed that the current president has been losing support among black, Latino and young voters, who were his electoral base in the 2020 race.
Also according to the survey, Republicans have a slight advantage over Democrats in the legislative dispute, obtaining the majority of voting intentions in six of the seven decisive states.
Joe Biden's current administration and Trump's former administration were also questioned in the survey. Biden's administration is disapproved of in all seven swing states, while Trump's administration is approved by five of the seven states.
