Triathlon|Jonas Deichmann made a cheekless triathlon performance.
Endurance athlete Jonas Deichmann succeeded in a completely absurd-sounding challenge. He completed the full distance of the triathlon in 120 days straight, which is a world record.
The 37-year-old German started his project on March 9, 2024 and finished on Thursday, September 5.
In one triathlon’s full distance, you swim 3.8 kilometers, cycle 180 kilometers and run 42 kilometers.
In a total of four months, Deichmann swam 456 kilometers, cycled 21,600 kilometers and ran 5,040 kilometers.
The days had a clear structure. Swimming started every morning at 6:30. We started cycling at eight o’clock. A short lunch break was held in the middle of cycling around 11:45. From 16 to 21 Deichmann ran a marathon.
So there were only 9.5 hours left in the day for recovery.
The place of execution was the small town of Roth in Bavaria. Based on the pictures and videos on social media, a triathlon party was held in Roth all summer, when Deichmann ran away from his record.
The athlete himself was largely kept in isolation, so that he would not catch, for example, the flu. Although he had company on his runs, Deichmann was not allowed to shake hands or hug him. He was not allowed to ride on the cycling sections in order to avoid accidents.
According to Instagram, there were enough escorts every day, and in the final stage Deichmann was followed by a real crowd.
Deichmann has done feats earlier in his career, with which he has collected money for charity. However, the triathlon race was exceptionally tough.
“This was definitely the hardest challenge I’ve ever faced,” Deichmann said on Instagram.
The previous world record was a 105-day triathlon streak that was broken Sean Conway in 2023.
