Process against the senator has been ready since January 30th; he is the target of two actions, which were joined in June
The TRE (Regional Electoral Court) of Paraná scheduled the trial of actions against the senator and former judge Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR). Judge Sigurd Roberto Bengtsson, president of TRE-PR, scheduled 3 sessions to judge the cases, which could culminate in the revocation of the congressman's mandate. They will be on April 1st, 3rd and 8th.
The proceedings were halted after the term of chief judge Thiago Paiva dos Santos ended on January 23. The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) appointed lawyer José Rodrigo Sade to the vacancy. The appointment was made on GIVE (Official Diary of the Union) on Thursday (22.Feb.2024) and the TRE-PR scored his inauguration for March 6th.
With Sade's inauguration, the composition of the TRE-PR will once again be complete, making it possible to resume the trial of the AIJEs (Electoral Judicial Investigation Actions) against Moro.
The case against the senator has been ready to be judged since January 30th. Moro is the target of two actions in TRE-PR: one filed by PL, the former president's party Jair Bolsonaro (PL), and another, by the Brazilian Federation of Hope (PT, PC do B and PV), which elected Lula. In June, the court decided to join the actions.
The acronyms indicate abuse of economic power, box 2, misuse of the media and irregularities in contracts. The parties are calling for Moro's impeachment and his ineligibility for 8 years.
If convicted by the Electoral Court, Moro will still be able to appeal to the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) to try to save his mandate. Understand more in this report.
