A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook the states of New York and New Jersey this Friday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The agency reported a tremor with a preliminary magnitude of 4.8, with the epicenter near Lebanon, New Jersey, about 75 kilometers west of New York.
The tremor, which lasted several seconds, could be felt throughout the city, from Brooklyn to the Bronx or Manhattan, according to testimonies from numerous Internet users.
New York now minutes away from an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale. From the bus in which we traveled from North Bergen to Manhattan it was not noticeable. But alarms went off on all cell phones to warn of the phenomenon. pic.twitter.com/uaAFGIr4nO
