Like a bolt from the blue, Paramount Pictures inadvertently postponed two new chapters of two different sagas we’re talking about Transformers: The Awakening and the new feature film based on the historic television series Star Trek, both of which slipped into different periods of 2023.
In the last couple of years there have been many film projects that have seen a postponement due to the pandemic situation. With cinemas now back in business, albeit with due precautions, we believed that this scenario was now over, but unfortunately other films are experiencing sudden postponements.
Transformers: The Awakening it should have been released in the summer of next year, while now it has been moved entirely, in mid-2023. The new chapter of the robot saga is the first to come out of the 2018 spin-off starring Bumblebee. Filming, by Steven Caple Jr., former director of Creed 2, they were almost finished, between locations in Peru, New York and Brooklyn.
The other project is about the mysterious new movie about Star Trek, of which little or nothing is still known. It was originally scheduled for June 9, 2023, but now it is postponed for six months to 22 December. We do not know if the film will see again Chris Pine reprise the role of Captain Kirk from the previous trilogy.
The reason for Transformers: The Awakening And Star Trek seems to be related to the election of Paramount’s new CEO, Brian Robbins, which has taken control of plans in the pipeline. It is not the first time that a similar scenario has occurred, given that the same happens in television networks.
And all this despite the pandemic making it possible to resume the implementation of projects at a fairly regular pace. Another similar case but the reasons for which we still do not know is related to Disney, which postponed numerous Marvel Cinematic Universe films, along with others such as Indiana Jones or 20th Century Fox works.
