There is no peace for Toyota. The Japanese car manufacturer has in fact decided to extend until next March 1st the closure of two production lines in two production plants managed by group companies in the homeland: according to what Reuters reported, only after that date will Toyota itself decide whether to put the two lines back into operation from Monday 4 March.
The reasons for the stop
We remind you that the production lines of the two factories in question have been suspended almost a month ago, to be precise, since last January 29th, after they had emerged some irregularities in certification tests for diesel engines developed by subsidiary Toyota Industries. A stop that was initially announced for a few weeks, and which has now been postponed until the beginning of next month.
Models and sites involved
Concretely, the suspension will continue for a line at Toyota Auto Body's Inabe plant in Mie Prefecture, where production involves minivans Alphard and Vellfire. Same fate for a line at Gifu Auto Body's main plant in Gifu Prefecture, where assembly operations include the van HiAce. For all these vehicles and sites, the new decision will be communicated on March 1st.
