Torrential rain floods Cadaqués and drags around thirty cars down the rambla

About thirty vehicles have been swept away this morning by water on a boulevard in Cadaqués, in the Alt Empordà region, in Girona, where the pre-alert has been activated due to the forecast that the rain that falls could accumulate 100 liters per square meter in 24 hours.

The Firefighters of the Generalitat of Catalonia have reported that the flood, which caused no injuries, occurred at 3:54 a.m. and that the vehicles swept away were left piled up under a bridge and did not reach the sea. Two fire crews have moved to the scene.

This has been the only intervention by firefighters in that region due to the storms last morning, although in the neighboring Baix Empordà they have received eight calls since 3:00 a.m., mostly due to flooding in private homes, with no injuries.

Civil Protection has reported that it keeps the pre-alert of the flood emergency plan, Inuncat, activated in the Alt and Baix Empordà, due to observation and accumulation of rain, which can reach 100 liters per square meter in 24 hours. “Caution!” Civil Protection has asked the population.
