Abelardo Gutierrezbetter known in the artistic world as Tongo, has been with his beloved wife for more than 30 years, Gladys Lupinta. As a result of their long relationship, their seven children were born, who today are the couple’s greatest pride.
The interpreter of “La pituca” has declared on more than one occasion how satisfied he is that all his children are professionals and stand out in their fields of work. One of them is a student at the National Conservatory of Music and participated as a chorister in the Rolling Stones concert in Lima, while another works for NASA.
Who is Tongo’s wife?
Like your partner, Gladys Lupinta is a Peruvian cumbia singer, that in the 80s he had his own group called Gladys y la super banda. Currently, she works as administrator and vocalist for Tongo and his group Imagination, an orchestra that performs almost every weekend somewhere in our country.
The singer has also participated in the video clips of several of the hits of Abelardo Gutierrezsuch as “Lajuga” and “El click”, a theme that was born as a result of a comment by Tula Rodríguez.
Tongo: how did you start your artistic career?
The interpreter of “Take on me” debuted at the age of 7 in his church choir. When he came of age he released his first song called “Don’t be bad”, together with the Kiwishow group, an orchestra that he was part of at the time. Some time later he formed his own band called Grupo Imaginación and at the same time released his second song: “De cantina”.

For several years the chicha singer has suffered from diabetes. Even during the pandemic he spent twenty days in the Intensive Care Unit of the Arzobispo Loayza hospital, due to the complications caused by this disease.
