Deportes Tolima punished the lack of ambition of La Equidad, which entered its field in the last 40 minutes of the match and went from 2-0 in favor to 2-3 that practically eliminated Alexis García’s team, in the semi-final home runs of the 2024-I League.
Equidad gave a lesson in effectiveness in the first stage: he made two shots at Neto Volpi’s goal and scored two goals. The first came at 23 minutes, when Johan Rojas scored with a shot from outside the area, after a back pass from José David Lloreda.
An error by Tolima on the return to their field left Equidad a large number of spaces that Johan Rojas took advantage of with enormous talent: he made an extraordinary pass for Kevin Viveros to make it 2-0 in the 44th minute.
Tolima scared La Equidad and turned the game around
The modifications took effect almost immediately. First, a goal disallowed for offside, and then, a handball from Daniel Polanco allowed Yeison Guzmán to score in the 14th minute of the second half.
Equidad, which had been a solid team up to that point, fell victim to its own panic. He got more and more into his area and gave the ball and ground to Tolima, who, at the beginning, could not find the formula.
In five minutes, Tolima resolved the game in its favor: in the 88th minute, Brayan Gil took advantage of a pass from Carlos Cortés, who had just entered, and scored 2-2. And then, at 90+3, in the umpteenth ball that rained in the local area looking for a header, Marlon Torres appeared to connect a service from Kevin Pérez.
Equidad paid dearly for their lack of ambition in the second half: without points in three games, the chances of reaching the final are minimal. Tolima, on the other hand, has four points and is now waiting for what will happen in Manizales, between Once Caldas and Santa Fe, to take out the calculator.
