All cardboard It is a negotiation already consolidated in the Los Mochis trade, which is supported by the movement of an average of 1,000 boxes per month, some of them made with recycled materials.
History
Marco Antonio Armenta Ruiz, an entrepreneur at the head of the business, consolidated the business in 2013, although its history begins in the mid-90s. “Originally, it was established by a doctor, and it passed through several hands until I took it over. It sounded interesting to me, especially since there was no similar business in this area,” he shared.
Products
Since its beginnings, All cardboard has been a distributor of articles made by a recycler located in Mexico City.
Although at the beginning the establishment only handled boxes for dead files and boxes for parcels, currently you can also find boxes for gifts and for home use.
“The field is very wide, practically anything can be made with cardboard. It is generally thought that cardboard is very weak, but there are manufacturing processes in which it acquires very high resistance, and things can be designed that sometimes people don’t even imagine,” said the company owner.
Marco Antonio has in his stock some articles made from a material based on powdered cardboard which has the appearance and hardness of wood, and pointed out that with recycled cardboard you can make home products such as closets, chairs and tables; shelves used in some businesses, such as hardware stores; and that even some cardboard products are used in construction.
He pointed out that there are cardboard products, such as file boxes, that are manufactured for rough use, that can last several years, whose material is processed so that insects such as moths, termites or woodworms do not eat it.
Likewise, he warned that these types of items, file boxes and other commonly used items, can be up to 50% cheaper than those made with plastic.
Market
Marco Antonio indicated that although he has wholesale sales, small counter sales are more common.
“It can be said that retail prevails seasonally. Wholesale is something almost fixed, they are companies or people who are dedicated to reselling it.”
Dates such as Christmas, Mother’s Day and Children’s Day usually record an uptick in sales of All cardboard, but none like the Day of Love and Friendship. From February 10 to 14, sales skyrocket by up to 500%.
Although he considered that there is still a long way to go before cities like The Mochis the population chooses recycled cardboard itemsthe businessman mentioned that there are fields in which it has not been replaced by plastic.
“In packaging, plastic has never replaced it; cardboard has always been used as a packaging box, due to its price, flexibility and handling. As for cardboard, there is still a lot to explore.”
It is worth mentioning that in Mexico only 10% of cardboard is recycled, which represents a great business opportunity for entrepreneurs.
