Tim is the main Italian internet provider. Many will remember it as Telecom Italia, the years pass but the service remains and obviously undergoes the necessary evolutions. Today we are here to talk about an important step forward and that is the switch off of the old copper network.
TIM starts switching off the copper network!
This fateful day had been talked about for months now and many were celebrating the adoption of the latest fiber technologies. Today Tim announced that the first 62 power plants forged entirely in copper will be completely decommissioned. The ultimate goal is to shut down almost 7,000 by 2028. If you were wondering how many there are in total, know that we are hovering around a figure of 10,500 copper power plants.
These 62 that will be turned off are found in: Basilicata, Campania, Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Lombardy, Molise, Puglia, Sicily, Tuscany and Veneto and obviously users will be immediately connected to the lines with the new technologies available. More specifically, here are the power plants:
- The 10 power plants of Calabria affected by the shutdown are located in Crotone (2), Vibo Valentia, Reggio Calabria, Seminara, Melicucco, Taurianova, Corigliano-Rossano, Dipignano and San Fili.
- The 4 power plants of Puglia affected by the shutdown are located in Bisceglie, Cellamare, Taranto and Melissano.
- A central in Lombardyin the Molinetto area in the municipality of Mazzano (Brescia)
- A central in Emily Romagnain Casinalbo in Formigine (Modena)
- The 7 power plants of Sicily affected by the shutdown are located in Palermo, Monreale, Bagheria, Ficarazzi, Acireale, Augusta and Melilli.
- The 3 power plants of Basilicata affected by the shutdown are located in Pignola, Filiano and Rapolla.
- A central in Moliselocated in Contrada Pantano in Termoli
- A central in Tuscanyon the way to Camaiore in Lucca
- The 3 power plants of Veneto affected by the shutdown are located in Verona (located in via Vincenzo Liruti), Sommacampagna (VR) and Selvazzano Dentro (PD).
- The 15 power plants of Campania affected by the shutdown are located in Calvizzano, Santa Maria La Carità, Giugliano in Campania, Ischia, Sarno, Brusciano, Bacoli, Somma Vesuviana, Pozzuoli, Giugliano in Campania, Pellezzano, Montecorvino Rovella, Castel Volturno, Capua and Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
- The 15 power plants of Lazio affected by the shutdown are located in Rome (2), Ardea (3), Fonte Nuova (2), Monterotondo (2), Rieti, Pomezia, Anzio, Tivoli, Aprilia and Mentana (1).
