Tigres will face Orlando City this Tuesday, March 5, in a match corresponding to the first leg of the round of 16 of the Concacaf Champions Cup. The duel will take place at Orlando City Stadium.
The UANL team is coming off a tough loss against Toluca and has not been as consistent throughout the Mexican soccer season.
Below we share with you what the Tigres starting eleven would be to face Orlando City:
Goalkeeper: Nahuel Guzmán – Every great team starts from the goal. 'Patón' is a player with a great ability to continue coming from behind and with a personality that helps his teammates get ahead.
Right back: Javier Aquino – The veteran Mexican full-back aims to start against the MLS team despite having played 90 minutes against Toluca.
Central defense: Guido Pizarro – The 'Conde' has become a vital element for Tigres' defense, now enabled as a center back. The Argentine player is the one who calls the shots in the lower zone.
Central defense: Juan Purata – The Mexican central defender has responded when needed. Given what Samir Caetano and Diego Reyes have shown, Purata could beat them to the job.
Left back: Jesús Angulo – The winger's place was occupied by Jesús Garza during the weekend. Angulo came on as a substitute against Toluca to try to balance things. Without a doubt, he is the owner of this position and will start against Orlando.
Central midfielder: Rafael Carioca – The Brazilian midfielder was not active this weekend to reach the round of 16 duel in the best possible shape. Carioca is the leader of the UANL team in the midfield. He shows when he is there and also when he is not there.
Central midfielder: Fernando Gorriarán – The tandem formed between Gorriarán and Carioca is the best that Tigres can present if its squad is healthy. The Uruguayan helps in defensive tasks, but he also has the ability to go forward.
Offensive midfielder: Juan Brunetta – Brunetta has gone from more to less with the feline painting. He started the season very well, but like his teammates, his performance has fallen in recent weeks. The Argentine has to show why Tigres paid what they paid for him.
Right winger: Ozziel Herrera – Herrera just scored against the Red Devils. The former Atlas player has been in better shape than Luis Quiñones and could start on the right against the MLS team.
Left winger: Diego Lainez – The Mexican winger was not considered for the duel against Toluca, but he did make the trip to play against Orlando. Lainez no longer makes such hasty decisions, he has grown after the arrival of Siboldi.
Center forward: André Pierre Gignac – The French striker would start against Orlando City. On the weekend, his place was taken by Nicolás Ibáñez. Gignac continues to be the boss of the feline attack.
