The 45-year-old, former F1 with Jordan and Midland, was discharged today from the Porto hospital. The pilot made known the recovery from that chest infection that denied him participation in the last two rounds of the World Championship with an instagram post: “Thank you all”
The last round of the Wtcr Fia (the World Touring Car) should have been run on 28 November in Sochi, but the 45-year-old Tiago Monteiro, struck by a severe bacterial infection in the chest, was unable to take to the track in the two remaining races. After five days in the local hospital, the former F1 driver between 2005 and 2006 in the Jordan and Midland stables was transferred from Russia to his port last Wednesday, December 1st, to continue his hospital treatment there. Today, December 7, the resignation finally arrived. This was revealed in an Instagram post by the Honda standard bearer of the All-Inkl.de Münnich Motorsport team competing in the World Championship aboard a Civic Type R TCR.
Tiago Monteiro, the liberating instagram post

“10 days, but now I’m going home – declared Monteiro relieved in the social post – Now still a few days of forced rest, but the worst is over. Thank you very much to all the health workers of the Cuf hospital. And to all of you for the fantastic messages that always give me a lot of motivation ”. For the Portuguese, who got on the podium in that 2005 Indianapolis GP remembered for the voluntary withdrawal of the 14 Michelin-wheeled cars, the longed-for happy ending has arrived. Today we go home.
