Tragic Highway Accident: Police Find Body Not Far From Van Stopped on Road
A dramatic accident occurred this afternoon at the Pegli junction on the A10 motorway. Stephen Chiaveranoa 33-year-old man, was found lifeless by the traffic police of Sampierdarena, who had noticed an empty van on the side of the road. A little further on, the macabre discovery: the lifeless body of the driver.
The dynamics of the accident, initially shrouded in doubts and disturbing hypotheses, have been clarified thanks to the work of the investigators. The traffic police, led by the first director Paola Zappavignatogether with the mobile squad, reconstructed the incident by viewing the images from the surveillance cameras in the area. The officers ruled out the intervention of other people or vehicles, confirming that it was an autonomous accident.
According to the investigations, Chiavirano lost control of the van, skidding violently and crashing into the guardrail. On impact, the 33-year-old was thrown out of the vehicle through the passenger window. Traces of blood confirm the investigators’ theory. The violence of the crash caused a partial decapitation of the young man. A detail that suggests the absence of a seat belt, which could have contributed to the fatal outcome of the accident.
Initially, the authorities had considered other hypotheses, including a possible suicide or an assault, in which the man could have been pushed out of the vehicle by a second person who then fled. However, the footage from the cameras has denied these conjectures, excluding the presence of other people or vehicles involved. While the investigations continue, the toll booth of Pegli was closed to traffic to allow technicians to carry out surveys. Authorities advised motorists to use the Pra’ motorway entrance to avoid further inconvenience.
The tragic fate of Stefano Chiavirano, who died in an accident with a bloody and unusual dynamic, leaves behind dismay and unanswered questions.
