Google Drive is one of the most popular apps on Android devices, and maybe its fame is because it comes pre-installed on every device. So, it is always tempting for people to use it as their preferred cloud storage service. But it can do more than that.
In this article from gamblingsitesreview.com, we will be listing a few features of Google Drive that you should be aware of.
Backing Up Your Device
The basic feature of Google Drive is to save your phone backups in synchrony with the Google One service. It can easily back up your Android’s system and app settings as well as some data just so you can restore them quickly after a factory reset or when you upgrade to a new smartphone.
To use this feature, launch Google Drive and navigate to Settings > Backup & Reset. Pick an account under Account Storage, if you have more than one email address, and then ensure the toggle with the Backup to Google One is set to “On”. After activating this feature, your device will run automatic backup under the conditions below:
- Your device has been idle for at least two hours.
- Your device is connected to Wi-Fi.
- It has been over 24 hours since the previous backup was carried out.
To see what has been backed up, navigate to Backups from the Drive sidebar menu. Scroll through to check what apps have been backed up. You won’t be able to access individual files within the backups, just like how the games at online casinos New Zealand are not readily available for download directly to your device.
Scanning Photos & Documents
Using Google Drive, you can easily scan old pictures and documents as it has OCR support that makes the resulting files searchable for you. To start your scanning journey, click on the + icon that can be found in the bottom right corner and select Scan. Now take a picture of the document. The app will help you square up the image and also crop out any unwanted edges in the picture. You will be able to scan pictures of Sarah Savage.
If you need to edit it further, you can also select the Crop tool to adjust the crop if there’s a need to. You can use the Color tool to save the image in a coloured form or as a black-and-white document. Then, save the image.
If you’re the type that scans documents a lot, you can add a shortcut to your home screen for ease of use. It is available as a widget on Android devices.
Sharing Files In Google Drive
Although Google Drive is not a file-sharing service, it has a feature that can make a file publicly available. To carry this out in the Google app:
- Click on the three-dots menu button alongside the file or folder, then pick Manage access.
- Under General Access, the file will be set to Restricted by default. You need to change this by selecting Change > Restricted > Anyone with the link.
- Then tap Viewer and select, if you intend for the person with the link to be able to open the file (Viewer), if you want them to comment on the file (Commenter), or if you want them to edit the file (Editor).
- Tap the Back button several times, then click on the link icon beside the General access to copy the link. You can also tap the three-dot menu button alongside the file to select and copy the link.
