Average Spanish spending has increased by 112 euros in the last year, placing the country as a whole at 1,081.15 eurosand converting Christmas 2024 the most expensive yet for consumersdue to the general increase in prices.
This has been revealed by a Spanish Consumer Study (ASESCON)which also provides that The Cantabrians will be the seventh to make a greater outlay on the Christmas holidayswith an average expenditure of 1,262 euros, and only behind Biscay (1,358 euros), Madrid (1,358 euros), Saragossa (1,306 euros), Seville (1,278 euros), Navarre (1,255 euros) and Malaga (1,264 euros).
Next, after Cantabria, they will be located Valladolid (1,249 euros), Valencia (1,217 euros), Toledo (1,205 euros), Almeria (895 euros), The Palms (927 euros), Albacete (923 euros), lugo (933 euros), Guadalajara (945 euros), Ceuta (961 euros) and Melilla (971 euros).
98% ADMIT THAT THE ECONOMIC SITUATION INFLUENCES THEIR PURCHASE DECISIONS
To carry out this report, a total of 1,0000 surveys were carried out aimed at consumers during three weeks in November to find out the spending intention during the Christmas period on concepts such as the lottery, food for the home, gifts and toys, leisure and other expenses traditionally linked to these dates.
On the other hand, 98% of those surveyed have admitted that the economic situation influences their purchasing decisions while the same percentage of those interviewed have indicated that this year Christmas will be more expensive than other years. Regarding the way to make purchases, 40% of those surveyed affirm that they will do them physically while 60% will do them online. In any case, 96% detail that they will combine both channels. Furthermore, 89% of respondents prefer using a bank card for payments over cash.
Regarding the expected expenses, Gifts and toys reach an estimated 427.79 euros (which represents the majority of expenses), followed by Food, 286.98 euros per person and leisure, with 200.98 euros per person. Meanwhile, an average of 90.19 euros will be allocated to the lottery and 75.21 euros will be allocated to others (which include decoration, donations, etc.).
