The power of the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 comes from a 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with four valves per cylinder. This turbo engine sends 200 hp to all four wheels via a short five-speed manual gearbox borrowed from a Citroën SM. From a standstill you reach 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and the top speed is 220 km/h.
Combine this with a centrally located 'epicyclic' differential that neatly distributes power between the two axles, a viscous coupling, a weight distribution of 45-55 with the majority on the rear axle and the result is, well, magnificent. With this 205 Turbo 16 you go back to the time when Peugeot was not yet concerned with horrors like the 308 CC.
