Mexico.- This Thursday was carried out in the commissions of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Relations Europe of the Chamber of Senators the ratification of the appointment of the former governor of Sinaloa, Quirino Ordaz Coppel as ambassador of Mexico in Spain and Andorra.
The ratification of the decree that approves the appointment of Quirino Ordaz was endorsed by 21 votes in favor of Morrena, PT, PVEM and PES as well as three against the PRI and PAN, as well as three attentions
In this sense, the ex-governor presented before the commissions his work plan as ambassador of Mexico to the Kingdom of Spain and concurrent to the principality of Andorra.
In this sense, the former governor highlighted his role in continuing to build bridges for society while recalling the bilateral work of the governments of Mexico and Spain, which also share a cultural and linguistic heritage.
“To strengthen and expand the bilateral relationship strategy between Mexico and Spain, my mission will continue to be building bridges, so that our societies find new opportunities for comprehensive development and foster dialogue in search of new understandings and cooperation horizons”. mentioned Quirino Ordaz.
The man from Sinaloa mentioned that, based on the foreign relations policy, its action and work will go through seven axes that will help strengthen bilateral relations.
- Political dialogue between the two nations. In the stake that will promote legislative diplomacy in all orders being an effective channel between the two nations.
- Economic promotion of Mexico. In this regard, he highlighted that Spain is Mexico’s second largest trading partner in the world only after the United States, while Mexico is the first Latin American investor in that country. For this reason, he mentioned that he would promote exports, including agricultural ones.
- Cultural promotion of Mexico. For this task, he mentioned that he will execute with the greatest diligence the cultural diplomacy of the Foreign Ministry, in addition to the potential of the cultural house of Mexico in Spain as a platform for promotion and linkage, as well as agreements and linkages to promote the creators of the two nations.
- Promotion of Education and Science. For this, he mentioned that he will seek to consolidate the mixed, technical-scientific Mexico and Spain fund based on the 20-30 agenda, as well as strengthen cooperation links in this regard.
- Tourism Promotion. Regarding this, Quirino Ordaz Coppel stressed that his priority will be to recover and exceed the levels of 2019, when 392 thousand Spaniards traveled to Mexico and 598 thousand Mexicans traveled to Spain, a figure that collapsed with the pandemic.
- Join regional and multilateral efforts. One of his priorities will be to promote the approval of the new Mexico-European Union global agreement, with which great benefits will be managed.

- Attention to Mexicans in Spain and Andorra. To this end, he said that he will strengthen consular protection and assistance, particularly for those in a situation of greater vulnerability through active, proactive relations of great closeness with the Mexican community in Spain.
