On March 8, 2014, the Boeing 777 disappeared into thin air en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Eight years later, there are new theories about the great mystery.
Munich – “Good night, Malaysian Three Seven Zero” were the last words of Zaharie Ahmad Shah, a Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777 pilot, on the route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. On March 8, 2014, the passenger plane on flight MH370 disappeared from radar with 239 people on board. Eight years have passed since then – eight years full of wild speculation, theories and attempts at explanations. Because, although some aircraft parts were washed ashore, there is still no trace of the aircraft’s fuselage, the occupants and the flight recorder. The mystery of flight MH370 has not been solved even after almost 3000 days, but that could change now. French journalist Florence de Chang is causing a stir with a new theory.
Flight MH370: A third party may be involved
Seven hours after the words of the pilot, a satellite was still able to receive so-called ping signals. Then silence, which to this day has not been explained. In her report “Disappeared – What Really Happened to Flight MH370?” Florence de Chang now puts forward a new theory about the whereabouts of the machine and its passengers. For the research, the journalist traveled to Asia, spoke with relatives, eyewitnesses and diplomatic circles in Malaysia and the USA. All of this led them to one conclusion: a third party could have been the trigger – due to possible high-quality spy technology of American origin in the cargo of the plane. “A device that the Chinese desperately wanted to get their hands on,” writes de Chang. The US military may have shot down the plane after realizing the mysterious device was on board and en route to China.
According to de Chang, the plane then crashed into the sea north of Vietnam. However, the final motive of the USA is unclear. However, de Chang cannot really rule out a shooting down by China.
Flight MH370: Australian sees responsibility for the pilot
In the Australian documentary “MH370: The Final Search” experts present evidence for a different theory. The machine flew a 22-minute circular loop, which was discovered last year. There would have been no logical reason for this, other than that the pilot had “possible negotiations” with anyone. Aviation author and former pilot Mike Glynn is sure of that. In the documentary he says: “My theory has always been that the captain is responsible.” Pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah is said to have caused the crash out of anger at the conviction of Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
According to investigative journalist Peter Stefanovic in the documentary, further investigations into MH370 require “money, interest and the will of the Malaysian government”. Perhaps the mystery of flight MH370 can finally be solved on the 9th anniversary.
