Thiago Motta leaves Bologna
Bologna and Thiago Motta part ways. All that was missing was the official news that had been in the air for weeks and, after the meeting between the Italian-Brazilian coach and the Felisineo club, it has arrived.
“This morning Thiago Motta communicated to the Club his intention not to renew his contract with Bologna FC 1909. Having taken note of the decision, the Club thanks the coach for the extraordinary work carried out and wishes him the best luck for the rest of his career”, explains the official press release from Bologna.
Thiago Motta-Bologna. Saputo: “Prepared and winning coach”
“In these two years I have met a prepared and winning coach”, declares President Joey Saputo, “which gave the team a brilliant playing identity. The achievement of qualifying for the Champions League places him and all the players in the history of our Club. I would have liked him to stay at Bologna, but I can only thank him and his staff for these wonderful seasons and wish him the best for the future.”
Thiago Motta-Juventus, here we go (with Calafiori from Bologna)
For Thiago Motta a beautiful story ends, culminating with the qualification of his Bologna for the Champions League and now another will begin: Cristiano Giuntoli’s Juventus calls him to start a new Juventus cycle. The former midfielder who won the treble with Inter will probably sign a three-year contract. With him, another valuable piece of his Bologna could arrive at Juve. Zirzkzee? No, the main suspect is the central defender Riccardo Calafiori (born 2002), author of an amazing championship (also a strong point of the Under 21 national team, but given his performances he dreams of Euro 2024 with Luciano Spalletti’s Azzurri), and also a brace against the Bianconeri in the last round of the championship played at the Dall’Ara (3-3 final). Purchased last summer for 4 million euros plus bonuses from Bologna, his price tag is now worth at least 25.
