An unknown person has vandalized this Thursday at noon an exhibition of support to Palestine located on the El Milan campus of the University of Oviedo, located in the city of Ovetense. Specifically, the aggressor has used a black spray to cover the photographs of the sample ‘Asturies with Palestine’, which collect images taken by Argentina Daniela Cohen of the actions to support the Palestinian people in the Principality since last October.
The person, indicate from the uniovi X Palestinian collective organizer of the exhibition, has acted this noon when the lobby of the Milan Aoul was full of people, proceeding to cover with a black spray the faces of the Palestinian people and the flags of the Palestinian people that were shown in the images.
The group has been dismayed by the facts showing an “absolute rejection” and a total surprise since “we never imagine that something like that could happen.” They study the call for repulsion actions against this aggression to the exhibition in a public educational center.
Daniela Cohen’s exhibition was closed this Friday, March 28 in the lobby of the Milan Aulament, where she opened on March 13. It was organized by the Uniovi X Palestine collective and the management of the Cooperation Area, Third Sector and Social Responsibility of the Vice -Rectorate for Strategic Planning and Campus Coordination of the University of Oviedo.
UNIOVI X Palestine is a group that emerged within the scope of the University of Oviedo that groups students, teachers, research, technical and administrative staff of the academic institution born in solidarity with the Palestinian people before the Gaza War and the aggressions in the West Bank carried out by Israel. Very active during 2024, they have carried out camping and protests of all kinds to denounce the actions of the Israeli State against Palestine and the collaboration of the University of Oviedo with entities in the field of defense of Israel, even going to the courts to denounce the maintenance of that collaboration.
According to the collective, the University of Oviedo has informed them that they have started investigations to identify the author of the facts and proceed in the manner that is necessary.
