During recent years, several seizures were made related to this criminal network. From 2018 to 2021, significant amounts of fake coins in different police operations. On one occasion, a workshop was discovered in Fuenlabrada, Madrid, which had already been used for the illegal manufacture of coins. This network operated primarily in gaming halls and casinos, feeding large volumes of counterfeit coins into slot machines.
The operation culminated with the intervention of the warehouse in Toledo, where multiple tools and equipment used to manufacture counterfeit coins were confiscated.
Among the objects seized were dies, hydraulic presses, die-cutting machines and a large quantity of metal cores for the production of coins. In addition, 10 people related to the network were arrested and face charges for crimes related to counterfeiting and distribution of illegal currency.
