The 33-year-old woman who was in a coma at the General Hospital of Segovia since last Sunday after being attacked by her partner, a man who had a restraining order against her, died this Thursday, as sources have confirmed to EFE. of the Government Delegation in Castilla y León.
The couple, of foreign nationality, lived in the town of Arroyo de Cuéllar in Segovia and had a youngest daughter in common who is with her maternal grandmother.
This past Wednesday, the Sepúlveda Court agreed to provisional prison, communicated and without bail for the aggressor, 36 years old, and also issued deprivation of parental rights with respect to the daughter.
Until now, the man was being investigated for the crimes of attempted homicide and violation of a protection order, but now, with the death of the victim, he will be charged with the crime of homicide or completed murder.
The Court of First Instance and Investigation of Cuéllar opened proceedings for a crime of abuse a month ago after a complaint from the victim and then adopted a prohibition on approaching his wife and communicating with her by any means.
It was the neighbors of this couple who alerted the Civil Guard and the emergency health services at 7:42 p.m. last Sunday of an incident of gender violence in a home.
Sources from the Government Subdegelation informed EFE that the woman suffered, in addition to a beating, an attempted strangulation.
Health teams from Castilla y León (Sacyl) went to the scene of the event to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers on a young woman who had serious injuries. After being stabilized, she was transferred to the General Hospital of Segovia, where she finally died.
The subdelegate of the Government in Segovia, Marian Rueda, explained to EFE that the victim was under the Viogen protection system, after having suffered an episode of violence last month.
“Although he was being monitored and that order was even tested four days ago, there was a breach by the aggressor of the restraining order, which allowed him to inflict very serious injuries on the victim,” said the subdelegate.
This woman is the 38th fatal victim due to gender violence so far in 2024 (the second in Castilla y León) and the 1,282nd since statistics began to be compiled in 2003.
