After the success of the NES and SNES Mini, many would think that Nintendo would continue offering small versions of its retro consoles. However, this has not happened. In this way, it has fallen into the hands of the fans to make this a reality, and The best example of this is Wii Minialso known as Short Stack.
Recently, James Smith revealed the existence of the Wii Mini which, as its name indicates, is a miniature version of the classic Wii. The console has been built with Omega, a cut-out original Wii motherboardcustom PCBs for power management, USB storage and connectors, as well as a 3D printed case and custom heatsink.
Short Stack is the world's smallest Nintendo Wii.

Alongside this, the console takes advantage of the open source Fujiflex PCB to provide digital A/V output via HDMI and nandFlex to relocate the Wii's NAND and allow for a seamless fit. Short Stack connects to the light via USB-C, and uses GCVideo for lossless digital audio and video over HDMI.
Wii controllers and other accessories connect via Bluetooth. Considering that the size prevents the use of physical disks, the console uses a MicroSD port to load games and store data. Even though it's small, Short Stack even retains the four GameCube ports found on the original system. In this way, an experience very close to the original is offered.
Considering that this is an unofficial project, The Wii Mini is not for sale, but Smith has shared all the documents necessary for you to create your own Short Stack. On related topics, a fan has created a working Wii XL. Likewise, the Wii virtual store is back.
Author's Note:
I would love to see more companies working on mini versions of their most popular consoles. It wouldn't be bad to have an Xbox Mini, or a Dreamcast Mini, even an N64 Mini would be amazing. However, it seems that this business is not as profitable as many of us thought.
