The Slovenian faces the highest bar of his career. After having won two Tours de France, Liège-Bastogne-Liege and two Giro di Lombardia, the Milano-Sanremo represents the pearl that would let him enter another dimension. He has raced it twice: in 2022 he was the protagonist with some attacks on the Poggio, without result, and in the end he finished fifth. This season he started with the turbo: nine victories in 13 days / race, impressive uphill. How can he win? Transform the Cipressa into an alpine climb with the team, put the rivals on the ropes and then sink the blow on the Poggio. The Slovenian is also an excellent downhill skier and therefore neither the very difficult dive from the Cipressa nor the one from Poggio worries him. And on the fly…. He has already beaten Alaphilippe in Liège, while Van Aert narrowly overtook him in the sprint that was worth silver at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.
