Matty Jordan is an explorer and blogger who shares videos from where he is based in Antarctica. In one of his latest publications he has shown the surprising image of what a night is likeat this time of year, at the South Pole.
Antarctica is now experiencing its summer, in which it is literally always daylight. They have what is known as ‘the midnight sun’, and they won’t see a sunset again until next February.
In his video, Matty Jordan shows what it’s like fully daylight at 00:00 hours, and even two of his companions are skiing outdoors.
The video, which has been viewed more than 11 million times on TikTok aloneleft viewers in awe, as many took to the comments section with a mix of shock and disbelief.
One user simply comments: “That would drive me crazy.” Another joked: “Are the shops still open?” Another user asks: “So how do you know when to sleep?”, to which another user replied: “In Antarctica they have windows and blinds.”
Another comment on the video says: “Waking up late without knowing if it’s morning or afternoon It’s diabolical.”
