According to the Hollywood Reporter, the open-world action video game Just Cause will become a movieproduced by the same makers of The Fall Guy and Nobody.
This isn’t the first time the game has been vying for the big screen treatment. Another film version spent years in development without reaching any conclusion, until the rights lapsed. The rights to the film were taken over by Universal, the publisher of Super Mario Bros. – The Movie.
The first details on the Just Cause movie
The movie will be directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, who directed the superhero film Blue Beetle, which focused on Latino characters. The protagonist of Just Cause comes from a fictitious Mediterranean nation, but in a clear Hispanic style: the director therefore does not stray far from his area of expertise. Two of the producers in charge, Kelly McCormick and David Leitch, were behind Ryan Gosling’s The Fall Guy and Nobody, starring Bob Odenkirk.
Another producer on the team, Dimitri M. Johnson, participated in Sonic The Movie 3 and the cooperative video game It Takes Two. This is a team that seems to have what it takes to give the video game a good treatment, although obviously we will have to see if at this time the production will reach a conclusion or if everything will be abandoned.
Just Cause is an open world shooter in which we take on the role of an agent who must bring chaos and destruction to various dictatorial regimes. Its most recent main chapter, Just Cause 4was the least appreciated, with a lower average rating from the press and players than the previous chapters.
