The Integrated Operational Coordination Center (CECOPI) has unanimously agreed to extend the order that limits circulation in the area of the metropolitan area of Valencia affected by the floods with the aim of facilitating the emergency work of the different agencies and bodies deployed “before the extreme risk of collapse” of the main access and exit routes to the city.
This has been confirmed by the Minister of the Environment, Infrastructure and Territory, Vicente Martínez Mus. “At the CECOPI meeting it was decided, following the request of the Civil Guard of Traffic and the General Directorate of Traffic as well as the different Emergency and “the State Security Forces and Corps extend for another 48 hours the order that establishes the temporary cessation of mobility and restrict it for all essential services,” Mus stressed.
This decision is adopted after the forecast of the General Directorate of Traffic and the Civil Guard that this Monday the main access roads to the city of Valencia, V-30 and V-31, will register serious movement difficulties, given that the A7 It has a section cut off due to flooding.
“It must be taken into account that, on a normal day, the bypass registers an average traffic of more than 100,000 vehicles and, if mobility is not restricted with this order, this traffic will be channeled through the V-30 and V-31, making it difficult seriously the access of essential services to the areas most affected by the floods,” highlighted Martínez Mus.
Martínez Mus has highlighted the need to promote teleworking and “avoid using a private vehicle unless it is part of the essential services workforce.” “It is essential to continue with the work to help reduce the number of vehicles in the metropolitan ring of Valencia,” he stated.
On the other hand, Mus has advocated that, as far as possible, use public transport and has highlighted that from Monday “the Metrobús service will be operational except for the southern corridor lines and the airport.” It has also announced that in the coming days new provisional lines will be established to guarantee the mobility of municipalities that had Metrovalencia service.
The Government delegate, Pilar Bernabé, added that on the part of the railway services that depend on the central executive, the connection from Valencia to Barcelona is active, also the goods for 48 years and regarding the Cercanías, she commented: “The C1 , C2 and C3 are closed and also the Valencia-Madrid connection, in the process of repair. “The C5 and C6 are active and from this Monday they will double their carriages so that they have double length and the frequencies of both lines will be doubled.”
For its part, the City Council has announced the suspension of classes in all schools in the municipality. The Department of Education has reported from other municipalities that have reported that it will not be possible to provide educational services from November 4 to 8 for reasons of force majeure: Albal, Alfafar, Algemesí, Alginet, Benetússer, Beniparrell, Catarroja, Cheste, Chiva, Dos Aguas, Godelleta, l’Alcudia, Massanassa, Paiporta, Picanya, Se-daví, Siete Aguas, Torrent, Utiel, Yátova and the districts of Valencia Castellar- Oliveral, La Torre and Horno de Alcedo.
