NYT: The US State Department approved the idea of Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes on Russian territory
The US State Department approved the idea of strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) on Russian territory. The newspaper reports this The New York Times (NYT) citing sources.
“A similar initiative was made by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. It has not yet been officially presented to US President Joe Biden, as it is unclear how strong the support will be among the president’s entourage. The State Department’s proposal sparked lively discussions about allowing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack Russian territories with American weapons,” the publication reports.
It is noted that this idea was the result of the visit of the US Secretary of State to Kyiv on May 14. Blinken’s position on American weapons has changed due to the successes of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that the US State Department is trying to put pressure on the Biden administration in order to allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to fire American precision weapons on Russian territory.
