“Attacks” on shopping centers, metro and railway stations are possible in several regions of Russia. On Sunday, February 20, the United States Embassy warned Americans who are now in Russia.
Similar messages were also sent to the e-mail addresses of the Americans who entered the Russian Federation.
The text says that the danger to US citizens is allegedly represented by large cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as zones on the border with Ukraine.
Americans in Russia have been advised to avoid crowds, be vigilant in places frequented by tourists, and carry identification, including a passport with a valid Russian visa.
Also, US citizens were warned about the possible need for self-evacuation from Russia.
The representation of the diplomatic mission in its messages refers to information from the media, while not naming them.
At the same time, earlier in the day, CBS News correspondent David Martin reported that the “order for the invasion” of the Russian Federation into Ukraine had allegedly already been transferred to Russian troops.
In response, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, asked that the American side had forgotten about the “action plan on the battlefield” published by German publications, which detailed the “dates of the invasion” of Ukraine.
Earlier, on February 20, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that the American leader continues to monitor the situation in the region, and his national security team regularly reports to him on developments. She also added that aides to the head of the White House confirmed Russia’s readiness to “attack Ukraine at any moment.”
On February 18, Joe Biden said that “Russian-backed forces” were allegedly trying to provoke Kiev into escalating the situation in the region. In addition, Biden noted that US intelligence has information that Russia allegedly will attack the territory of Ukraine in the coming weeks and even invade Kiev. Journalists laughed off the American leader after this statement.
On February 14, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the United States would temporarily move the embassy in Ukraine from Kiev to Lvov. He added that the diplomatic mission “will continue to maintain contacts with the government of Ukraine” and help coordinate diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions around the country.
Earlier, on Feb. 11, the State Department urged Americans to leave Ukraine and warned that the US would not be able to evacuate its citizens in the event of Russian military action anywhere in Ukraine, as consular services would be severely affected.
