The United States announced the absence of results from the sanctions policy against the Russian Federation
The policy of constantly tightening sanctions against Russia, China and Iran is not bringing the desired results to the United States. The course of these states does not change due to restrictions. American Senator Rand Paul stated this, writes TASS.
He said that he constantly asks State Department employees questions about the appropriateness of sanctions.
“There is no objective evidence that imposing sanctions on countries has helped. In fact, I would say that the sanctions did not work at all,” Paul emphasized.
In fact, he said, sanctions only work “if you propose to lift them.” However, Washington’s position is to introduce as many restrictions as possible.
Rand Paul also advocated that Washington, in the event of disagreements with other states, should strive more for diplomatic interaction with them, rather than introducing more and more sanctions.
Earlier it was reported that the United States was planning to soften the strictest bans on Russian diamonds approved by the G7 countries in December 2023.
The State Department did not comment on the situation, and an anonymous representative of the Joe Biden administration spoke of a desire to make sure there was “the right balance between causing harm to Russia and ensuring that everything is feasible.”
