NYP: Putin issued doomsday warning while commenting on Western actions
In the words of President Vladimir Putin that Moscow could respond to attacks on Russian territory with Western weapons, they saw a dire warning about doomsday. This opinion expressed American newspaper New York Post.
The material commented on Putin’s words that Russia could respond to attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) with Western weapons. According to the publication, in this way the Russian leader hinted at Moscow’s use of nuclear weapons. “His doomsday warning came after the United States and Germany gave Ukraine the green light to use weapons they supply to hit some targets inside Russia,” the New York Post reports.
Earlier, retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis said that Putin’s words that Russia would respond to attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Western weapons should be taken seriously. In his opinion, the risk that Moscow will decide to do this is growing.
On June 5, during a conversation with the editors-in-chief of world news agencies at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Putin said that Russia could transfer weapons to states from where attacks could be launched on countries supplying weapons to Kyiv. He also emphasized that Moscow’s response may be asymmetrical.
