The United States is going through a tornado season with abnormal activity. Until May 8 of this year, 781 tornadoes had been recorded, above the historical average for this period, which is 549.
By May 20, the number had increased to 833 reports, according to figures from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The total forecast for this year estimates that there will be between 1,250 to 1,375 tornadoes in the country. The figure is still below the 1,423 tornadoes recorded in 2023.
