The United States authorities are preparing for a significant refugee crisis amid the aggravation of the situation around Ukraine. This is reported on February 6 by the channel fox news citing a knowledgeable source.
The US is working to prepare for a significant refugee and migration crisis.
According to journalists, European countries are also discussing the issue of accommodating refugees, as they assume that “Ukrainians will flee to other parts of Europe.”
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General Mark Milley, told congressmen that Kiev could fall within 72 hours in the event of a “full-scale Russian invasion,” a source told reporters.
In addition, some legislators expressed concern about the lack of prompt military assistance to Ukraine from the United States. However, in response to this, representatives of the US administration said that Russia could use the increase in arms supplies to Ukraine as a “reason for the invasion.”
Earlier in the day an American newspaper The Washington Post citing “numerous anonymous intelligence sources,” she said that Russia had “pulled to the borders” about 70% of its military forces for the “invasion” of Ukraine.
Sources of the newspaper claim that 83 Russian battalion tactical groups, numbering about 750 servicemen each, are allegedly located near the borders with Ukraine, 14 more groups are on the way. It is noted that the United States fears that the “invasion of Ukraine” could lead to the death of 50 thousand civilians, cause a humanitarian crisis and provoke a wave of 5 million refugees.
Western politicians and media representatives continue to spread numerous speculations about possible Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Russian side has repeatedly denied allegations of an alleged “invasion” into a neighboring country.
On February 5, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov noted that Russia is not going to attack Ukraine, since it is unprofitable for Moscow. According to him, Washington is trying to reduce all the problems of international security to Ukraine.
On January 30, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev called the statements of the US authorities about the alleged threat from Russia towards Ukraine absurd. The West is pursuing “some selfish fabrications of its own,” he pointed out. At the same time, the Ukrainian side itself indicates the absence of a threat.
On January 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia was not going to start a war with Ukraine, and Western countries and the United States were “hysterically” developing the topic of a threat from the Russian Federation instead of forcing Kiev to comply with the Minsk agreements.
