The UN will not be able to ensure the arrival of Lavrov to the HRC meeting in Geneva

The UN Secretariat allegedly cannot ensure the participation of the Russian delegation with the head of the diplomatic department, Sergei Lavrov, in the meeting of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. This was announced on Monday, February 28, by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

It is noted that now it is necessary “to draw up some documents that the EU countries will now come up with for those aircraft that have fallen under sanctions.”

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that it is the responsibility of the UN and the host country to “ensure the work of member countries, especially at a time of crisis.”

Also, in her opinion, the Ukrainian authorities have delegitimized themselves, having lost control over the situation in the country.

“And now… there will be an awareness of why this is happening. Because they stuffed Ukraine with weapons, because the central government simply delegitimized itself in Kyiv, does not control the situation when weapons have been distributed throughout the country for a whole year, ”Zakharova said on the air of the TV channel “Russia 1”.

She also noted that Russia still has friends in the world, in particular China.

“Of course have. Look at the reaction of the world giants. Those who do not pretend to be giants, but real giants. Well, China in particular. You see this reaction, ”she answered the corresponding question.

Zakharova also pointed out that the countries of the “Big Seven” (G7) should calculate how much damage their actions caused to the world, and not to Russia, reports “Gazeta.Ru”.

Earlier, on February 27, Zakharova clarified that contacts between Russia and the European Union were officially maintained. The Russian Foreign Ministry has no information about the difficulties or cancellation of issuing visas for Russian citizens due to anti-Russian sanctions, she added.

Western sanctions followed in response to the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24 to conduct a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. After that, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky introduced martial law throughout the country. He also said that Kyiv is breaking off diplomatic relations with Moscow and withdrawing its diplomats from the embassy.

The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that the army did not carry out air, missile or artillery strikes on the cities of Ukraine. The civilian population of the country is not in danger. High-precision weapons destroy military infrastructure. As of February 27, 1,067 military infrastructure facilities of Ukraine were disabled. The total number of already faulty equipment includes American Javelin anti-tank missile systems and British NLAW.

On February 21, Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR). The Russian President and the heads of the DPR and LPR Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik signed agreements on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance, which involve interaction in the political, economic, social and military spheres. The agreements were ratified by the Russian President and the Federation Council.

Since 2014, the Ukrainian authorities have been carrying out a military operation against the inhabitants of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, Kyiv blames Moscow for the current situation. Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the conflict.
