The UN General Assembly called on Ukraine to engage in a peace process based on the Istanbul Agreement
The Council of Presidents of the UN General Assembly (GA) called on the parties to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict to launch a peace process based on the Istanbul Agreement of 2022. This is stated in the text of the declaration following a meeting of representatives of the body in Qatar, reports RIA News.
“With regard to the hostilities in Ukraine, the Council called for the launch of a peace process based on the Istanbul Agreement of 2022, which includes the idea of Ukrainian neutrality together with a decision on self-determination of the occupied territories in the form of a referendum under the auspices of the UN,” the publication says.
According to the meeting participants, such measures will lead the parties to the conflict “to a comprehensive settlement.”
Earlier it became known that Switzerland invited more than 160 delegations at the level of heads of state and government to a conference to discuss the Ukrainian “peace formula” and other peace initiatives on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. However, Russia did not receive an invitation.
