Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter Likhachev, who stole the T-64, announced a proposal from Polish intelligence to spy
Polish intelligence services offered Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) fighter Maxim Likhachev, who stole a T-64 tank and defected to Russia, to engage in espionage in Donbass. The man told the agency about this TASS.
He explained that intelligence representatives contacted him when he went to work in Poland. “They started offering me to work for their organization. They wanted to use me. I refused because I realized that the matter “smelled of kerosene,” the military man said. Likhachev clarified that they wanted to receive information from him from the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
Earlier, Likhachev told the details of the hijacking of the T-64. According to him, when the soldiers surrounding him fled due to the shelling, he was able to take advantage of the moment and jumped into the tank. His colleagues perceived his actions as cover for the retreating: “That’s why no one suspected anything. Everything was on wild adrenaline,” he recalled.
Likhachev’s transition to the Russian side became known on May 24. A Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter stole a tank because he thought it would be safer to get to the positions of the Russian Armed Forces, where he was expected in advance by prior agreement.
