Under the patronage and presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, the Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, organized by the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association, concluded this evening at Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah.
The competitions of the final day of the championship were attended by Muhammad Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the Jujitsu Federation, Brigadier Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, President of the Taekwondo Federation, Youssef Abdullah Al Batran, a member of the Federation’s Board of Directors, and a number of federation officials and representatives of clubs and academies in the country.
The championship fulfilled all its promises and celebrated its fights on the final day with a strong competition filled with a lot of enthusiasm, rivalry and strong performance, while Commando Group Academy succeeded in achieving the title, AFNT Academy finished runners-up, and Sharjah Self-Defense Sports came in third place.
At the level of countries, the lead went to the UAE, ahead of Brazil, the runner-up, and Colombia in third place.
Youssef Abdullah Al-Batran expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, for his support and patronage of combat sports, especially jiu-jitsu, to ensure its prosperity and contribute to the consolidation of the country’s position as a global home for the game.
Al-Batran also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the family of the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, which has become an ideal destination for hosting federation championships and jiu-jitsu champions from all over the world.
Al-Batran stressed that the Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is of great importance and provides an ideal atmosphere to prepare a generation of champions who are able to represent the UAE in a manner worthy of its leading position in all international forums and championships, and the best evidence of this is its success in attracting more than 800 male and female players representing 50 countries. from the five continents of the world.
Al-Batran commended the exceptional support of the wise leadership for the sport of jiu-jitsu, and the efforts of the federation’s work team, led by Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi, President of the UAE and Asian Federations, First Vice President of the International Federation, in advancing this sport, by providing all the ingredients to raise the level of state clubs, their development and their participation in local and international championships, pointing out that Organizing the Fujairah International Championship reflects the Federation’s goals and vision in spreading this sport in various parts of the country, and building a distinguished base of professional players striving for excellence and access to the world.
Today’s competitions witnessed strong fights and an enthusiastic atmosphere between male and female players from around the world in the categories of amateurs and professionals, holders of blue, purple, brown and black belts.
The Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship was the first official competition for the champion Zayed Al Kathiri, the star of Bani Yas and the national team, who managed to win the gold medal in the 62 kg weight category after defeating the Brazilian Bruno Borges in a fight that inflamed the enthusiasm of the fans in the stands.
Al Kathiri expressed his happiness with this first achievement with the black belt, stressing that the fights of this category are different from others, as the competitor has a great deal of strength and experience and the convergence of levels between the competitors.
Al Kathiri added that he fought most of his fights today with cautious optimism, careful reading of the nature of competitors, and full commitment to the directives of the technical staff, which helped him achieve the achievement.
Al Kathiri expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Federation and Baniyas Club for providing the best preparation and qualification environment in the world to develop the players’ capabilities and enable them to compete in and excel in the strongest international tournaments, pointing out the importance of this tournament in preparing for the next most prominent international tournaments on the scene.
