At the end of last June, several agents from the Reserve and Security Group (GRS) of the Valdemoro Civil Guard saw their lives pass before them. A guy who They had gone to arrest in Sonsecaa town in Toledo, tried to take them with the car in which he was fleeing. It was the (known) second film escape by Gregorio Navas Hernández, alias ‘Willy’.
Until that moment, he was an old acquaintance of the Security Forces for his robberies using the butrón method and his voracity in illicit vehicle trafficking. But this 37-year-old Spanish subject, since that attack on Benemérita, became part of the list of the 10 most wanted criminals in Spain, in July 2024.
Until now, Group II of the Fugitive Section of the National Police has found him after weeks of surveillance around his family, in Móstoles. Willy lost track of him in 2021, when he took advantage of a prison permit to avoid returning to the Valdemoro prison, where he was serving his sentence.
There he had shared ‘accommodation’, precisely, with one of his raiding masters, Jonathan Moñiz Alcaide, ‘el Piojo’, and with one of his brothers, Miguel Ángel, ‘el Negro’; and that is where the latter two escaped from at the beginning of December 2020. “Willy was destined to be the heir of Piojo,” police sources explain; In fact, both (as well as Raúl Gil Castañares, ‘el Taca’, for being stingy) were arrested in Operation Joy, which culminated on March 20, 2013 with a dozen thieves arrested.
Fifteen police stations, units, brigades and headquarters of the National Police participated (coordinated by the Robbery Group of the UDEV Central and the Illicit Vehicle Traffic Group of the Udyco Central), around 200 agents. At that time, the fact that, to make the resources more profitable and speed up the work, the heads of each research group opened a closed WhatsApp group to go over each of the errands they carried out or to communicate the data they needed from each other. A technique, in this type of robbery operations at a national level, totally pioneering. But, of course, the judges who heard about the matter decided to release them pending trial and continued doing their thing. This is a constant in cases of forceful robberies.
Navas Hernández “is not just any bird,” say those who have worked with him. His forte is the theft of luxury cars and their subsequent placing on the black market. The day of the attack in Sonseca, the GRS was going after him: he was in a squatter building, hiding. Now, Fugitivos has monitored his immediate surroundings and located the apartment where his wife and children reside.

For almost a month, investigators have been carrying out ‘tronchas’ (discreet surveillance) outside the building in question, on Calle del Empecinado, in Móstoles. At that time, he had numerous judicial requests, including two for imprisonment.
The police knew that, based on his profile, he must go to that house at some point, where they believe he has been coming and going, to see his closest relatives. There, the Navas even had a video surveillance camera in case the agents or other enemies appeared. Until Monday they watched Willy arrive; With graphic evidence, they got the court to authorize entry the following night and he was arrested at six in the morning this Tuesday. He has returned to his habitat, prison.
Total, only in the territory of the National Police, 20 records for robberies with force, injuries, crimes against road safety, against traffic safety, illicit association, document falsification, vehicle theft and attack against an authority agent.
