Architectural jewel from 1899 in El Pardo
This is a mansion located in front of the Royal Palace of El Pardo, one of the residences of the Spanish royal family that, originally, was a hunting lodge of the Austrias. The mansion is a protected property that is for sale for 8.9 million euros. It was built in 1899 by María del Carmen de Aragón-Azlor e Idiáquez, 15th Duchess of Villahermosa, and her husband, José Manuel Fernando Goyeneche y Gamio, Count of Guaqui, who had their main residence in Madrid in the Villahermosa Palace, currently Thyssen Bornemisza Museum. The historic building was the second residence of the Dukes of Villahermosa, patrons of the arts and lovers of culture.
The architectural jewel is characterized by its neoclassical lines. They receive two gardens with different statues, a wrought iron gazebo with an original sculpture and a staircase that leads to the palace.
The luxury of its interior is surprising, with pieces of furniture from different periods: from the Renaissance to the beginning of the 20th century. All the rooms are divided thematically and among the elements they incorporate stand out a fireplace, still in use, numerous works of art, antique tapestries, frescoes and a staircase in the main hall along which there are two immense mirrors.
Various rooms are arranged throughout the palace: living rooms, reading rooms, 14 bedrooms and eight bathrooms… There is a glass gallery, designed in the times of Alfonso XIII, to have privacy without losing the possibility of observing the outside.
