His case is one of the most high-profile in recent times. The Spanish chef Daniel Sanchoson of the actor Rodolfo Sancho, has been sentenced to life sentence after being found guilty by a Thai judge of the premeditated murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta, on August 2, 2023 on the island of Koh Phangan.
He has also been found guilty of the other two crimes of which he was accused, the dismemberment of the corpse and the theft of the victim’s passport.
Two months after the verdict, the expert José Ruz has written a book called Daniel Sancho: the whole truth and nothing but the truth in which unpublished data on the case are disclosed.
In it you can read all the statements that were made inside the room, such as, for example, the one that Daniel himself said just before he began to give his version of the events. “I don’t profess any religion. Even though my actions may be considered a sin or my words may not be true, I do not fear God.. But I have love and compassion for my fellow humans“were the chef’s strange words before giving his version of what happened to Arrieta.
Unpublished data
The book also includes unpublished data that will help you understand a little more about what really happened in Thailand. As the author has commented in The digital closure, “This is an investigation of more than a year where I have had to fight a lot to access all the documents”.
In the book, the case is addressed “without getting into the life leading up to it”: “I thought it was important to address the whitewashing of Daniel Sancho that has been done in the press“.
“It was said that Daniel was not read his rights. But in the summary there are three readings of his rights prior to his statements (…) When people read the trial they will realize many things. Daniel’s defense said it was very favorable. However, the reality that is shown is that it was not favorable at all,” he adds.
