That Erling Haaland’s goals fall out of his pockets every season no longer surprises anyone. The Norwegian striker has amply demonstrated that he is a true goal specialist. Perhaps he just needs to prove it in some games in which the pressure overflows, but it is just a detail to be polished that does not keep him from the top drawer of the podium of the most feared scorers on the planet.
This Wednesday, against Sparta Prague, he also did not miss his appointment with the goal. Haaland scored twice in an indisputable victory for his team (5-0), in which his acrobatics stood out above all for Pep Guardiola’s team to 2-0.
The City striker scored the first of his two goals with a quick turn and a shoulder-high heel against which the visiting goalkeeper Vindahl could do nothing and which caused several of his teammates who were following the play to put their hands on their heads.
The goal was reminiscent of one he scored against his former club, Borussia Dortmund, two years ago, and which ended up earning him the award for the best goal in the Champions League that season.
«It was an incredible goal. “I was left speechless after he finished,” confessed Matheus Nunes. «When he scored against Dortmund I was watching it on television, but seeing this live was amazing».
“He’s a monster, isn’t he?” declared Phil Foden about Haaland’s athleticism. «If I tried to do that I would surely hurt my groin.. “I don’t know how he did it, I think it’s because of his long legs.”
Undefeated and third in the Champions League
Phil Foden, John Stones and Matheus Nunes completed Manchester City’s scoring chart, which remains unchanged undefeated in all competitions this season and is placed third in the Champions League standings.
Guardiola relieved his star striker in the final stretch of the match, played in the middle of a marathon of seven games in 21 days, which deprived Haaland of the opportunity to achieve his third treble of the season.
