The Spanish pilot Ana Carrasco (Evan Bros Racing Yamaha Team) was proclaimed champion of the first Women’s Motorcycle World Championship, by taking the third place on the podium in the last race of the season held this Sunday at the Jerez Circuit.
Carrasco, champion in 2018 of the Supesport300 category of the World Superbike Championship, won the first edition of this new World Cup in a Spanish fight throughout the Championship. The Murcian woman took the title with 244 points, ahead of María Herrera (Klint Forward Factory Team) and Sara Sánchez (511 Terra&Vita Racing Team).

«When the race started I had no plan. I wanted to reduce the group because I was a little worried seeing that there were six of us fighting and you never know what can happen. So I couldn’t relax at all. When I saw that María attacked, I decided to sit behind those in front and wait for the last laps», explained the new world champion.
«With two laps left, I tried to pass them, but it was difficult on the back straight and I didn’t want to make any mistakes. I managed to pass Ponziani in the last corner and the result earned me the title. It’s great to have finished all the races on the podium, It has been an incredible season.
