The socialists insist that the PP dismiss Mazón and create a temporary Council, but they do not rule out the motion of censure

The PSPV has not yet taken up the gauntlet thrown by Compromís to present a motion of censure against Carlos Mazón, or at least for now. The proposal reiterated by the general secretary of the Valencian socialists, Diana Morant, continues to be the one announced last Friday: “we propose a realistic and transitional solution which is that the PP and Mr. [Alberto Núñez] Feijóo dismiss Mazón to make way for a government with a technical profile focused on reconstruction.”

Morant points out that he “respects and understands” the Compromís proposal, but insists that “the motion of censure does not break the PP coalition with the extreme right.” In this way, without the support of the socialists, the proposal launched this Monday morning by the Valencian party would be left without enough support to even reach the Valencian Parliament because the motion of censure requires the support of at least 20 deputies. , while Compromís has 15, and it is essential to have the support of at least 5 socialist deputies. Even so, the PSPV does not rule out a motion of censure “if the PP castles.”

Technical and transitional council

Minister Diana Morant, who is also a minister, has called on Feijóo and the PP to comment on the proposal they presented last Friday, the day of Mazón’s appearance in the Corts. The specific proposal was that the Feijóo “remove the president of the Generalitat, elect a new Consell with a technical profile to face the urgency and, once this phase is over, call early elections during 2025.”

Morant understands that “Valencian socialists propose a realistic and transitional solution”, which will bear fruit in a temporary Council “focused on reconstruction”, and has insisted that “even Feijóo knows that Mazón cannot stay.” Furthermore, the minister recalled the situation of the current parliamentary majority, which crystallized with a pact between the PP and the extreme right: “it is Vox that gives stability to Mazón and with whom a denialist Valencian Generalitat agreed.”

And in this situation Vox has already spoken out and will not support any motion of censure against Mazón, and not so much because of the final objective of the proposal, but because of who presents it. Thus, although they claim that Mazón has been “negligent” and has shown “great incompetence,” the extreme right party has stated that “we with separatist parties are not even going around the corner.”
