It manages to prevail in the union elections with 25 of the 45 delegates in a day in which participation remained around 70% on average
The SIME Public Employees Union reinforced its union majority in the Murcia City Council on Wednesday by expanding its presence both among the delegates of the staff board -which represent the staff of civil servants- and in the company committee, chosen among the staff labor. Thus, after the elections held this Wednesday, the SIME goes from 10 to 12 representatives in the first body, which is made up of a total of 25. Workers’ Commissions (CC OO), with 5; UGT, with 2; and Somos and CSIF, with 3 each, shared the rest of the delegates. Likewise, the SIME reinforced its presence in the works council after adding one more position than in the previous elections and reaching 13, which once again gives it an absolute majority in the sum of the two bodies, obtaining 25 of the 45 representatives . The remaining four went to CC OO, while UGT went empty.
No incidence of Covid
Some 3,000 municipal employees (2,400 civil servants and 600 workers) were called this Wednesday to participate in these elections, which took place normally and with good participation, despite the uncertainty that could exist, a priori, due to the possible impact on this of the pandemic and teleworking situation. Finally, the influx to the polls remained around 70%.
In total, eight polling stations were installed in different municipal offices (Glorieta de España (2), Local Police Building in El Infante, Abenarabi, AV Employment Service / 1 de Mayo (2), and Plaza de Europa). The recount was delayed compared to what was expected due to delays at the Local Police table. These elections came at a time of social peace after the signing of a new collective agreement, which includes the professional career.
